Dania Beach and Port Everglades in Florida

Located in Broward County in the state of Florida, Dania Beach is one of the cities that make up the Miami metropolitan area. As of 2013, the city is home to more than 20,400 residents.

Dania Beach was first settled in 1898. In 1904, it became one of the first communities to be incorporated in Broward County. The settlement was initially called Modello, but the name was later changed to Dania because the residents wanted a name that reflected their Danish ancestry.

In January 1926, Dania voted to became part of the city of Hollywood, Florida, a move which was retracted in September that same year, when the latter was destroyed by a hurricane. In 1999, the city changed its name again, this time to its present form, Dania Beach.

The city is home to the Fishing Hall of Fame & Museum (run by the International Game Fish Association) as well as to the Dania Jai Alai, one of the largest jai alai courts in the United States.
