Learn About Homestead, FL
A suburb of Miami and a major agricultural zone in the Miami metropolitan area, Homestead is the second oldest city in Miami-Dade County. It was incorporated in 1913 and celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2013.

Homestead's modern history, however, goes back earlier to 1898, when the South Dade area opened to homesteaders. In 1904, a railroad line was built through this region. Many of the workers who helped build the railroad line also became among the first residents who founded the city in 1913.
Today, many people are attracted to Homestead for its beauty, warm climate, and proximity to Miami, which is located just 30 miles away. The city is adjacent to two national parks, namely the Everglades National Park and the Biscayne National Park. The Everglades are home to mangrove forests and watery saw grass plains, while Biscayne is popular for its offshore barrier reefs.
Homestead is currently home to more than 64,000 residents.
