Learn about Royal Palm Beach, FL

Located in the central part of Palm Beach County in the Southeastern portion of the state of Florida, Royal Palm Beach is an incorporated village that is home to more than 36,300 residents.

The area where the village now stands was originally a natural preserve with swamplands and hunting grounds for the Seminole Native American people. In the 1950s, some 65,000 acres of this land was purchased by Philadelphia supermarket chain founders Sam and Hattie Friedland. They later sold this property to real estate magnate Arthur Desser, who then initiated the development of the new community. Royal Palm Beach was incorporated in 1959.

Since 1990, Royal Palm Beach has been designated by the National Arbor Day Foundation as a Tree City USA. The entire area within the village’s boundaries is an official bird sanctuary. The city has also been chosen by Family Circle Magazine as one of the Top 10 Best Towns for Families in 2008. The village maintains a high standard when it comes to parks and recreation, setting aside 10 acres of parkland per 1,000 residents.
